Riverdale, N.Y. - Junior goalkeeper George Ellis was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week it was announced today by the conference. It is the first such honor for any Jasper Men's Soccer player this season.

Ellis was a mainstay in the Jaspers two road victories this past weekend. On Sunday, Ellis made four saves while allowing one goal in Manhattan's 2-1 win over Canisius. The victory was sealed when Ellis made a diving save on a penalty kick in the 88^th minute to help snap a 43 match winless streak for the program.

The Quinnipiac transfer then notched his first shutout in a Manhattan uniform on Sunday, making 10 saves in a 1-0 win at Niagara. This season he has recorded a 1.59 Goals Against Average and a .773 save percentage in net.

Manhattan (2-12-0; 2-3-0 MAAC) will be back in action for their final home games of the season this weekend. They will host the Siena College Saints on Friday Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. before welcoming in Marist at 10 a.m. on Sunday Oct. 3.
