2013: First team All-MAAC catcher ... named to Johnny Bench Award watch list during the season ... led team with a .311 batting average ... led team wtih 36 RBI ... tied for team lead with five home runs ... reached base at a .408 clip ... started 49 of 50 games, mainly behind the dish ... went 3-for-5 with three RBI at Florida International on February 23 ... had three hits in five trips with two runs scored on March 10 vs. Youngstown State ... went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI in game one at Iona on March 23 ... had seven hits in 13 at-bats with four RBI during three-game series vs. the Gaels ... homered and reached base all four times at bat during game one vs. Canisius on April 20 ... went 3-for-5 with five runs scored vs. NYIT on April 23 ... ripped a two-run homer in game two at Siena on May 16.

2012: All-MAAC First Team honoree... led the MAAC with 51 RBI and ranked third in the conference with seven  home runs... named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team in the Jaspers second straight championship run after posting six RBI in five games... started 50 of his 57 appearances behind the plate... tied for third in the MAAC drawing 32 walks... had 12 multi-hit games, including a pair of four hit performances... posted a season-high four hits in victories at Florida Atlantic (2/25) and Army (4/4)... recorded 12 multi-RBI efforts with a season-high five RBI at Rider (4/15)... named MAAC Player of the Week on April 10 after batting .500 with 6-of-9 hits going for extra bases, and posting nine RBI in five wins that week... caught 23 base runners stealing... registered a .270 batting average, .431 slugging percentage and .375 on-base percentage... finished third on the team with 55 hits and 34 runs scored... started all 24 MAAC games, recorded 20 hits and six home runs... registered a .512 slugging percentage in league contests... held a season-high six game hit streak from March 11 - 21... reached base in nine straight games during the regular-season... started all five MAAC Tournament games and drove in four runs to lift Manhattan to a 6-5 victory over Rider (5/26) in the elimination round... drove in two more runs in the championship round helping the Jaspers to a 5-4 victory over Canisius (5/26)... started both NCAA Tournament games against South Carolina (6/1) and Coastal Carolina (6/2).

2011: All-MAAC Second Team selection... named to the All-MAAC Tournament Team after driving in three runs and recording two doubles in three games... started 46 of 50 appearances and was second on the team with a .331 batting average... recorded 53 hits, 25 RBI, 21 runs, 11 doubles and two home runs... registered a .438 slugging percentage and .400 on-base percentage... ranked fifth in the MAAC with a .371 batting average over 22 conference starts... finished with 15 RBI, a .529 slugging percentage and .432 on-base percentage in MAAC games... posted 14 multi-hit games and four multi-RBI performances... held a season-high six game hitting streak from April 22 to May 3... registered a season-high 15 game reached base streak... posted a career-high six RBI with a grand slam in a victory over Saint Peter's (4/9) at Van Cortlandt Park... recorded a season-high three hits on three occasions in wins over Saint Peter's (4/9) and Marist (4/17), and then in the NCAA Tournament against Florida (6/3)... led the team with a .714 (5-for-7) batting average, .857 slugging percentage and .750 on-base percentage in two NCAA Tournament games against Florida (6/3) and Jacksonville (6/4).

2010: Started 40 of 47 appearances... posted 26 RBI, scored 21 runs and hit .268... recorded 10 multi-hit games, including a career-high four hits on three occasions... registered five multi-RBI games with a season-high four RBI in wins at Delaware (3/7) and Liberty (3/20)... made 33 starts at catcher, five at designated hitter and two at first base... named MAAC Rookie of the Week on March 15 after batting .500 with four RBI, helping the Jaspers to a win at Fordham and two victories at West Virginia... delivered game tying RBI in a pinch hitting situation with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in the regular-season finale with Siena (5/21), leading to a win which clinched a MAAC Tournament berth... hit the game winning two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth for a 9-8 victory over Albany (4/7)... delivered the game winning sacrifice fly in a victory over Marist (5/27) in the MAAC Tournament.

2009: Started five of six appearances before suffering season ending injury... hit .333 (5-15) and posted a .400 slugging percentage... scored three runs... recorded a .412 on-base percentage... went 2-for-4 with a double in collegiate debut versus BYU (2/21)... had two hits and logged first career RBI in a victory at Delaware (3/8).

BEFORE MANHATTAN: Lettered at Christopher Columbus High School... earned All-Dade County as a sophomore, junior and senior... served as team captain throughout high school career... Preseason Under Armour All-American senior year... led Christopher Columbus in batting average, RBI and home runs as a sophomore and junior.

PERSONAL: Majoring in marketing... the son of Ramon and Lupe Ortega...has two sisters, Elizabeth and Paulet.
