BASEBALL WINS 11TH STRAIGHT ROAD GAME BEHIND STRONG PITCHING PERFORMANCE FROM JEREMY SHAW
West Point, N.Y. (April 11, 2007)- Manhattan scored six runs over the seventh and eighth innings to open up a close game on the way to a 9-4 road victory over the Army Black Knights this afternoon at Doubleday Field. The Jaspers improve to 16-11 on the season, winning their eighth straight and 12th in their last 13 games.

The score remained 3-1 in favor of the home team until the fifth inning. Nick Derba reached on an Army error to load the bases with two outs before Mike Garcia singled to plate Rene Ruiz and Eric Nieto to knot the score at 3-3.
The Jaspers took their first lead of the game in the seventh, scoring three runs, all with two outs. After the first two batters were retired, Matt Rizzotti reached on an error to extend the inning, and Nick Derba walked to put two runners on for Garcia, who ripped a double to score Rizzotti before another Black Knight error allowed Derba to score on a batted ball by Kevin Nieto.
A single, a double, and an RBI groundout plated a run for Army in the bottom of the eighth to provide the final margin.
Jeremy Shaw (1-2) twirled 4.1 innings of no-hit ball in relief to earn his first win of the season, facing just one batter over the minimum.
