RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College women's tennis team began its season-ending seven-match homestand with a matchup against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Loyola at the Riverdale Indoor Tennis Club on Friday. Despite a number of competitive matches, the Jaspers (3-9, 1-2 MAAC) dropped a 7-0 decision to the Greyhounds (13-4, 2-0 MAAC). In doubles action, Manhattan's No. 1 tandem of Lili Johnson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Brianna Turano (Nutley, N.J.) were tripped up, 8-3, by Rachel Janasek and Olivia Ott. Loyola clinched the doubles point when Scarlett Hoy and Judy Lite notched an 8-4 victory over Hilary Valenzuela (Mesa, Ariz.) and Caitlin Bricketto (Coral Springs, Fla.) in the No. 2 position. At No. 3 doubles, Alyssa Rosello (Garden City, N.Y.) and Catherine Clark (Salem, Conn.) fell to Sabrina Fedele and Tiffany Ash by an 8-5 count. Loyola also won all six singles matches. At No. 1 singles, Janasek defeated Johnson 6-2, 6-1. Valenzuela dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Hoy at the No. 2 position, while Bricketto lost to Fedele, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 singles. After a tight first set in the No. 4 singles match, Turano suffered a 7-5, 6-1 defeat against Ash. Stephanie Tsao (Scarsdale, N.Y.) fell to Lite by a 6-2, 6-1 count at No. 5 singles, and Ott topped Rosello 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 position.
