FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - The Manhattan College women's tennis team had its most impressive performance of the season on Wednesday afternoon. The Jaspers (4-10) didn't lose a game across seven matches en route to a dominating 7-0 victory over St. Francis (NY) (1-7) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. St. Francis (NY) only had five healthy players available for the match, giving the Jaspers automatic victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Manhattan then clinched the doubles point with a pair of 8-0 wins. Lili Johnson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Brianna Turano (Nutley, N.J.) defeated Ewa Opala and Akuila Edwards at No. 1 doubles, while Manhattan's No. 2 team of Hilary Valenzuela (Mesa, Ariz.) and Caitlin Bricketto (Coral Springs, Fla.) defeated Sara Sooy and Natasha Edwards. In singles play, Manhattan again swept all five matches, winning each by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Johnson topped Opala at No. 1 singles, while Valenzuela beat Jovana Bojinovic in the No. 2 position. At No. 3 singles, Bricketto defeated Akuila Edwards, and it was Turano over Natasha Edwards at No. 4 singles. Rosello took on Sooy at No. 5 singles and won by an identical 6-0, 6-0 margin. Wednesday's match was the start of a busy week for the Jaspers. Manhattan (1-3 MAAC) hosts four matches in the next six days, starting with Thursday's 4:30 p.m. matchup against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Saint Peter's (8-10, 2-1 MAAC).
