RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Freshman guard/forward Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) of the Manhattan College women's basketball team has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.  Roeder notched a game-high 20 points and added five rebounds in the Lady Jaspers' season-opening 63-34 win over St. Francis (NY) on Friday.

The first true freshman to start the season opener in three years, Roeder went 7-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from three-point range against the Terriers.  She also had an assist and a steal in 33 minutes of the action.  Roeder currently leads the MAAC in scoring and three-point field goals.

The Lady Jaspers (1-0) return to action on Tuesday night, when they visit No. 14/16 St. John's (1-1) at 7 p.m.  Manhattan's home opener is scheduled for Friday night, when Albany (1-0) comes to Draddy Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. matchup.
