Jaspersí junior Allison Pfeiffer scores first goal of the season in Manhattan victory at Saint Peter's
Manhattan junior goalkeeper Kara Davis earned the complete game victory making three saves in the contest. Saint Peter's goalie Caitlin Hoffer was on record for the loss posting seven saves in 90 minutes of action.
Hoffer kept Manhattan (3-8-2, 1-3-1 MAAC) off the scoreboard in the opening half by making six of her seven saves in the first 45 minutes. Hoffer's solid goalkeeping allowed Saint Peter's to take a one goal advantage just before the break when Peahens' midfielder Courtney Sundstrom capitalized on an unsettled situation in the box putting the ball in an open net at the 42:40 mark.
The Jaspers battled back in the second stanza beginning in the 70th minute when junior Allison Pfeiffer tied the game on an open look in the box assisted by senior forward Devon Lutz . It was Pfeiffer's first goal of the season and Lutz's second assist of the year.
Manhattan continued to attack and with 87:31 on the clock it paid off when the offensive pressure forced Saint Peter's into an own goal. The ball found the back of the net after a scramble in the box.
The Jaspers outshot Saint Peter's 11-5 in the contest and held a 4-2 corner kick advantage.
Manhattan returns to action on Monday for its final non-conference match of the season. The Jaspers visit Columbia for a 7 p.m. kick off.
