Riverdale, NY - Saint Joseph’s defeated Manhattan 18-6 at Gaelic Park despite three goals from sophomore Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community).


The Hawks improve to 2-3 while the Jaspers fall to 2-3.

In the first quarter, Saint Joseph’s opened up a 4-1 lead before Giarratana scored twice to end the quarter while trimming the deficit to 5-3.

Unfortunately, the Hawks ripped off five-straight scores to open the second quarter en route to extending the their advantage out to 10-3 before freshman Luke Hanson (Middletown, NY / Minisink Valley) notched a man-up score off of classmate CJ Scharf’s (West Islip, NY / West Islip) team-leading seventh assist.

After halftime, freshman Reid Martin (Buffalo, NY / Canisius) and junior Andrew Gresham (Pitt Meadows, Bristish Columbia / Pitt Meadows Secondary) found the back of the net to round out the goal-scoreres for Manhattan.

Sophomore William Ratchford (Mountain Lakes, NJ / Mountain Lakes) registered five ground balls to round out the top statistical performers for the Jaspers while junior Michael Zingaro (Cortland Manor, NY / Walter Panas) had seven saves between the pipes.

Chris Blewitt had five goals while Jason Kelly added four scores to pace the Saint Joseph’s offense. T.J. Jones made seven saves in earning the win for the Hawks.

Manhattan returns to action at Delaware with opening face-off slated for 3:00 pm.
