Jaspers Return Home to Face Lafayette

RIVERDALE, NY – After suffering a narrow 8-7 defeat at Bucknell on Sunday, the Manhattan College women’s lacrosse team (0-3) returns to action on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. matchup against Lafayette (4-2) at Gaelic Park.  It will be the start of a two-game homestand for the Jaspers.

Manhattan is facing it second straight Patriot League opponent (and third this season).  Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) leads the Jaspers with five goals and six points.  Sarah Lang (Golden’s Bridge, NY), who recorded a hat trick against Bucknell, also has six points this season.  Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) paces the squad with seven ground balls and six draw controls, while Hailey Siemek (Bel Air, MD) has a team-best seven caused turnovers.  Goalkeeper Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY), meanwhile, boasts a 10.67 goals against average and .475 save percentage.

Lafayette, which is playing its fourth consecutive road game, has won each of its last two contests.  Kirsten Wilhelmsen leads the Leopards with 24 goals and 31 points.  She’s also caused 13 turnovers and picked up 15 ground balls.  Emma Novick has 17 goals and 24 points, while Jane Kirby has scored 15 times.  Charlotte Rath paces the team in ground balls (16), and Kristin Schaen’s 25 draw controls are a squad-best.  Allie Aberchali and Anna Raymond both have two wins in goal.

The Jaspers and Leopards met in Pennsylvania last season, with Lafayette earning a 17-10 victory.  Manhattan hasn’t hosted Lafayette since the 2009 campaign, when the Jaspers posted an 18-10 win.
