Jaspers Set to Host Saint Mary’s, Visit Rutgers

RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan College women’s lacrosse team begins a stretch of two contests in three days on Sunday, when Saint Mary’s (1-4) comes to Gaelic Park at 1 p.m. for its first-ever meeting with the Jaspers (0-4).  Manhattan is then hits the road on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. matchup with Rutgers (4-3).

Manhattan concludes a two-game homestand on Sunday.  The Jaspers dropped a 16-12 decision to Lafayette on Wednesday.  Sarah Lang (Golden’s Bridge, NY) has scored a team-high eight goals, and she’s tied for the squad lead with 10 points.  Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) also has 10 points this season.  Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) paces Manhattan in ground balls (9) and draw controls (7), while Hailey Siemek (Bel Air, MD) has caused eight turnovers.  In goal, Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) has put together a 12.00 goals against average while making 42 saves.

Saint Mary’s is in the midst of a three-game East Coast road trip.  The Gaels are coming off a 21-12 loss at Central Connecticut on Friday.  Jocelyn Lubert leads the team in both goals (16) and points (19), while Jillian Dunlap boasts a squad-best 19 draw controls.  Molly Kuptz paces Saint Mary’s with 17 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.  Three different goalkeepers have seen action for the Gaels this season.  Cassidy Hoffman has a team-leading 23 saves, and her 15.09 goals against average is also the best on the squad.

Rutgers has won each of its last two games, including a 12-9 victory at James Madison on Saturday.  Nicole Koypta leads the Scarlet Knights with 13 goals, while Amanda Turturro has recorded a team-high 15 points.  Alana Navaroli, meanwhile, paces the squad with 17 draw controls.  In addition to boasting a team-best 14 ground balls, goalkeeper Bianca Dente has 61 saves and an 11.43 goals against average.

This will be Manhattan’s first visit to Rutgers since the 2014 season opener, when the Scarlet Knights earned a 6-3 victory.
