Jaspers Look For Second Straight Win at Siena

RIVERDALE, NY – After notching a thrilling 10-9 double overtime win over Iona at Gaelic Park on Wednesday, the Manhattan College women’s lacrosse team (4-9, 1-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) returns to action on Saturday with a 12 p.m. matchup at Siena (1-11, 0-4 MAAC).  It will be the first of three straight road games to conclude the regular season for the Jaspers.

Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY), who scored the game-winner against Iona, leads Manhattan with 29 goals and 42 points.  Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) has contributed 21 goals, while Sarah Lang (Golden’s Bridge, NY) has 19 goals and 11 assists this season.  Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) boasts a team-best 41 draw controls, and Emma Kaishian (Yorktown, NY) has picked up 34 ground balls.  She ranks sixth in the MAAC with 2.62 ground balls per game.  Goalkeeper Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) is fourth in the league in goals against average (11.67) and fifth in saves (9.62 per game).

The Saints have dropped eight straight and are coming off a 15-9 loss to Niagara on Wednesday.  Alexis Deaken is Siena’s leader in goals (27), ground balls (24) and caused turnovers (13).  She’s also tied with Michelle Schwartz for the team lead in points (31).  Schwartz has scored 23 goals this season.  Brianna Sirianni, meanwhile, paces the Saints with 33 draw controls.  Sammy Horton has played every minute in goal and ranks third in the MAAC with 10.92 saves per game.

Siena has posted a one-goal win in each of the last two meetings between the teams.  The Jaspers’ last victory over the Saints was an 11-7 triumph at Gaelic Park on April 13, 2013.
