Jaspers Fall at Fairfield In Season Finale

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan College women's lacrosse team concluded its 2017 season on Wednesday afternoon with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest at Fairfield.  Despite four goals from Sarah Lang (Golden's Bridge, NY), the Jaspers (5-11, 2-6 MAAC) dropped a 14-6 decision to the Stags (11-5, 7-1 MAAC) at Rafferty Stadium.

Fairfield scored the first three goals of the game and led 7-1 at halftime.  After the Stags increased their advantage to 11-2 with 13:02 remaining, Lang recorded the first of her four tallies at the 12:31 mark.  Fairfield extended the margin to 13-3 with just under 10 minutes left before Lang rattled off three straight goals to pull her team within 13-6.  Fairfield's Meaghan Graham then capped the scoring as time expired in the Stags' 14-6 victory.

Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY) had three assists for the Jaspers, while Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) registered a goal and an assist.  Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) also scored a goal to go along with three ground balls.  Kara Hodapp (Oak Ridge, NJ) and Emma Kaishian (Yorktown, NY) picked up three ground balls, as well.  Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) (5-11) made 12 saves in net.

Riley Hellstein led the Stags with seven goals.  Alex Fehmel finished with two goals and two assists, while Scarlett Sulliman added two goals and an assist.  Erin Mammele recorded eight draw controls, and Katie FitzPatrick collected a game-high ground balls.  Caleigh O'Connor (11-5) earned the win in goal after stopping five Manhattan shots.

Manhattan's five wins this season were its most since the 2009 campaign.  The Jaspers also earned their most MAAC victories since 2014.
