2017 Cross Country Schedule Unveiled
RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan College men's and women's cross country teams will take part in seven meets during the 2017 campaign, including three at Van Cortlandt Park. The season begins at Van Cortlandt Park on Sept. 9, when Manhattan competes in the Fordham Fiasco.
On Sept. 16, the Jaspers will get a preview of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships course when they head to Holmdel, NJ, for the Monmouth Invitational. After a week off, Manhattan returns to action at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run on Sept. 29. It will be the Jaspers' first appearance at the meet since 2012.
Manhattan begins its championship season on Oct. 13 with the annual Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. Last year, the Jasper men won their first Metropolitan title since 2001, while the women's squad finished second. Manhattan then heads to the MAAC Championships, which return to Holmdel Park for the first time since 2014, on Oct. 28. The Jaspers placed fourth (men) and fifth (women) at the 2016 MAAC Championships.
“I am very happy with the schedule we have put together,” Head Coach Kerri Gallagher said. “It gives both the men and the women great opportunities to compete against quality teams in preparation for the Met and MAAC Championships. It should be a fun and exciting season for the athletes we have returning and the new freshmen who will join them.”
This year's NCAA Northeast Regional Championships will be held in Buffalo on Nov. 10. The top two teams and four individuals at Regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships in Louisville, KY, on Nov. 18. The ECAC/IC4A Championships are also scheduled for Nov. 18 at Van Cortlandt Park.
