Wappingers Falls, NY - UAlbany defeated Manhatatn 16-5 in non-conference action at Dutchess Stadium.

The Great Danes improve to 11-14 while the Jaspers fall to 8-20.

UAlbany used six extra base hits in the first two innings in taking an early 7-0 lead.

Manhattan got one of those runs back in the bottom of the second as senior Evan Brown (Ashburnham, MA / Bridgton Academy (ME)) led off with a double before coming around to score on classmate Matt Forlow’s (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) infield single.

The Great Danes added to the lead with six runs over the next two frames before junior Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) and sophomore Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) crossed the plate in the bottom of the fifth to trim the deficit to 13-3.

After UAlbany added three runs to its advantage, the Jaspers got two back in the bottom of the ninth on RBI singles from Brandon Bisset (Jr., New City, NY / Don Bosco Prep (NJ)) and Brandon Valls (Jr., Miami, FL / Dean CC).

Barrella went 2-for-3 with two runs to lead the way for Manhattan while senior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) reached safely three times with two stolen bases.

Travis Collins went 3-for-6 with a home run and four RBI to pace UAlbany.

J.T. Genovese struck out four while yielding three runs, one earned, over 6.0 innings in notching the win.

The Jaspers return to action with a 3:00 pm doubleheader at Maine on Friday, April 14.
