Litzell Earns MAAC Field Performer of the Week Honors
RIVERDALE, NY – Junior Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) of the Manhattan College men’s outdoor track & field team has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Field Performer of the Week. He finished second in the hammer throw at Princeton University’s Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday.
Litzell took over second place with a season-best effort of 67.12 meters (220 feet, two inches) on his final attempt. With that mark, he’s currently in 15th place on the qualifying list for the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
Manhattan has now taken home a men’s weekly honor in three successive weeks. Fabian Mueller (Amtzell, Germany) was named Track Performer of the Week on April 18 (as well as March 21), while Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) was the Field Performer of the Week on April 11. In addition, Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia) was selected MAAC Field Performer of the Week on March 28. On the women’s side, Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY) (Track, March 21) and Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden) (Field, April 11) have been recognized.This weekend, Litzell will be among the group of Jaspers that takes part in the Penn Relays from Thursday-Saturday. The rest of the squad will head to the College of New Jersey on Saturday for the Lions Invitational.
