RIVERDALE, N.Y. - For the second straight year, Malin Marmbrandt(Enkoping, Sweden) of the Manhattan College women's track & field team has been recognized for her success in the classroom with a selection to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic Track & Field team. A record 551 athletes from 150 schools made up this year's team.
Marmbrandt, a senior marketing major, is also a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I honoree. A six-time MAAC All-Academic selection, Marmbrandt helped the Lady Jaspers capture both the MAAC indoor and outdoor titles by sweeping the long and triple jumps at both championship meets. She was named Most Outstanding Field Performer at the MAAC Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Marmbrandt set a school record in the long jump at the prestigious Penn Relays. She also took the gold medal in both the long and triple jumps at the 2010 ECAC Championships.
To be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic squad, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have either met the automatic or provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Indoor Championships or participated in the NCAA Outdoor Championships (including the regional meet) in their event. Marmbrandt competed at the NCAA East Regional meet in both events, finishing 15th in the triple jump.
