RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan guard Darryl Crawfordwas named to the 2008-09 Men’s Basketball All-MAAC Third Team as selected by the league’s 10 head coaches. Crawford led the Jaspers averaging 14.2 points and 1.5 steals per game during the regular-season.
Crawford appeared all 29 games, while starting in 11. He tied a team-high scoring in double-figures 19 times, including six 20+ point performances. The junior from New York City ranks in the top-10 of the conference in scoring (10th – 14.2 ppg), free-throw shooting percentage (ninth – 74.1%) and steals (eighth – 1.4 spg). Crawford also averaged 4.3 rebounds, shot 42.6% from the field and dished out 2.2 assists per contest. He led the Jaspers in scoring nine times and was named MAAC Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 22.
The Jaspers finished the regular-season tied for fourth in the MAAC after posing a 9-9 league record. Manhattan (16-13, 9-9 MAAC) enters the 2009 MAAC Championships as the #4 seed and will face #5 Fairfield (16-14, 9-9 MAAC) in the first quarterfinal contest on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the TimesUnionCenter in Albany.
