RIVERDALE, NY – Manhattan College held its 175th Commencement Exercises on Friday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium.  There were 60 student-athletes among the 723 men and women to receive undergraduate degrees as members of the Class of 2017.

The graduating student-athletes earned degrees from each of Manhattan's five academic schools (Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Education and Health, Business), and 10 were members of at least one honor society.  In addition, the following student-athletes received special merit awards:    

  • The Mendelian Medal for Biology: Lauren Barton (women's soccer)
  • The Sigma Xi Medal for Research in Science: Lauren Barton
  • The Francis B. Taylor Medal for Excellence in Science and Mathematics (next in merit): Lauren Barton
  • The John S. Sich Medal for Kinseiology: Allie Yamashiro (volleyball)
  • The Thomas H. Lindgren Medal for Excellence in Education: Allie Yamashiro
  • The Captain Frederick J. Finn Medal for Finance: Stefan Hoeller (men's track & field)
  • The Dean James L. Fitzgerald Medal for Management (next in merit): Jenny Bitzer (women's soccer)
