Manhattan Men, Women Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
RIVERDALE, NY – For the first time in four years, the Manhattan College men’s and women’s cross country teams have been recognized for their success in the classroom by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both squads were selected as USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Teams. It’s the first selection for each team since 2013.
In order to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, teams must start at least five runners at the NCAA Regional Championships and hold a combined GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Jasper men finished 13th at the NCAA Regionals and posted a team GPA of 3.21. Meanwhile, the women’s squad, which took 26th at Regionals, put together a 3.44 cumulative GPA.
Manhattan placed 10 women and seven men on the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team.
There were a total of 431 teams (242 women’s, 189 men’s) that achieved USTFCCCA All-Academic status. The Georgia State women (3.85) and Bowling Green men (3.71) boasted the top GPAs in the nation.
