MAAC Women's Rowing Poll Released
Edison, NJ – Manhattan was slated to finish 10th in the 2016 MAAC Women's Rowing Championships.
Defending MAAC Champion Jacksonville has been named the preseason favorite to repeat as women’s rowing champions, according to the vote of the leagues 10 head coaches. The Dolphins earned a total seven first place votes, totaling 88 points.
In 2015, Jackonsville won its second MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship trophy after scoring 53 points to defeat Marist College by six points. For the second year in a row, the Dolphins claimed the Women’s I Eight’s Grand Final with a time of 6:46.927 and the Women’s II Eight Grand Final with a time of 7:09.135.
Coming in second in the poll is Marist with a total of 80 points, while receiving two first place votes from the coaches. The Red Foxes finished second last year in the MAAC Championships with a total of 47 points. Canisius and Fairfield are tied for third with 66 votes. Robert Morris was tabbed fifth place with 45 votes. In sixth place with 42 votes was Drake University, followed by Iona (39), Stetson (34), Sacred Heart (22) and Manhattan (13).
