Manhattan Take Part In The Head Of The Schuylkill Regatta
Philadelphia, PA - Manhattan Women’s Rowing competed in the 46th annual Head of the Schuylkill Regatta over the weekend with the Jaspers bringing four boats to the 2.5 mile long race.
Women’s 4: Freshman Allison Eichhorn stroked the boat and set the pace for freshman Shannon Forty, freshman Meredith Domaleski, junior Maggie Tebbetts and junior Coxswain Amy Sniffen (Junior) pulling their boat to an impressive 10th-place finish out of 25 boats.
Women’s Varsity 4: Immediately after the women's 4, the squad of sophomore Becca Arcomano, senior Katie Watroba, sophomore Emma Regenauer, senior captain Lorraine Piccorelli and freshman Coxswain Ally Polla pulled hard in placing 42nd.
Women’s Novice 8: Racing in their first-ever regatta, the Jaspers finished 38th out of 41 boats in the novice race. Coxed by freshman Elizabeth McCabe, the boat lineup was senior Megan McKee in Stroke, sophomore Lisa Dominguez, freshman Shannon Colford, freshman Jaclyn Leighton, freshman Erin McWilliams, freshman Kate Sexton, freshman Zoe Nikolopoulos (Freshman) and junior Sam Coggins in Bow.
Women’s Varsity 8: Later in the afternoon a strong head wind entered the course making concentration and technique extremely important. Given the conditions, Manhattan put forth a solid effort in placing 50th with their boat being stoked freshman Allison Eichhorn, followed by senior Lorraine Piccorelli, freshman Meredith Domaleski, sophomore Grace Murphy, freshman Isabel Shirron, sophomore Phoebe Costello, sophomore Jillian Rider, junior Maggie Tebbets and junior Coxswain Amy Sniffen.
The Jaspers will conclude their fall season at the Fall Metropolitan Championship on Saturday, November 5.
