Edison, NJ – The MAAC announced today that Jacksonville has been selected as the Preseason favorite to claim the 2017 Women’s Rowing Championship, as voted upon by the league’s 10 head coaches.

Jacksonville earned seven first place votes, totaling 96 points while Marist comes in second place with a total of 86 points. Canisius received three first place votes, coming in third place with 76 total points following Fairfield (68), Drake (63), Robert Morris (43), Sacred Heart (38), Iona (34), Stetson (33) and Manhattan (11).

In less than a month, the Jaspers will travel to Charleston, South Carolina for the program's inaugural spring training trip. Along with several other collegiate teams, they will row twice a day for six days and condition in order to catapult into the spring season. 

The second-year program will begin its season with the Kerr Cup in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 15.

The 2017 MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship will take place on Friday, May 12 at Mercer Country Park in West Windsor, NJ. For more information be sure to visit maacsports.com/rowing.
