RIVERDALE, NY – This week’s ATAX Manhattan College Student-Athletes of the Week are members of the indoor track & field team.  Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD) was selected on the women’s side, while the men’s honors went to Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia).  They both won individual titles at the ECAC/IC4A Championships over the weekend in Boston.

Chapman finished first in the 60 meters at the ECAC Championships.  She qualified with the second-fastest time, then posted a 7.56-second clocking in the final to edge Bria Saunders of Rutgers by 0.01 seconds for the title.  With the win, Chapman became Manhattan’s first gold medalist at the ECAC Indoor Championships since Andrea Nyback in 2013.

Clarke, meanwhile, defended his IC4A title in the long jump.  He moved into the lead with a leap of 7.41 meters (24 feet, 3¾ inches) on his fifth attempt, then improved that mark to 7.43 m (24’4½) with his final jump.  Clarke’s victory extended Manhattan’s streak to 31 consecutive years with an IC4A champion.
