Outdoor Track & Field Sweeps ATAX Student-Athlete of the Week Honors
RIVERDALE, NY – Both of this week’s ATAX Manhattan College Student-Athletes of the Week are members of the outdoor track & field team. Sophomore Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden) was selected on the women’s side, while the men’s honor went to senior Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia). They both earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Field Performer of the Week honors, as well.
At the Spec Towns Invitational at the University of Georgia, Persson became just the fifth woman in program history to reach the six-meter mark in the long jump. She leaped 6.00 meters (19 feet, 8¼ inches) on the nose to place third in the competition and move into 25th place on the qualifying list for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Persson also ran the 100 meter hurdles and finished 10th in a time of 14.72 seconds.
Clarke won the men’s long jump at the Spec Towns Invitational. His personal-best mark of 7.68 m (25’2½), which was slightly wind-aided, represented the fourth-furthest leap in the NCAA East Region this season. Clarke was the IC4A indoor champion in the event and qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round last year.ATAX is a leading provider of tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll & incorporation services for over 28 years.
