RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan College outdoor track & field team swept this week’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Field Performer of the Week selections.  Senior Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) was chosen on the men’s side, while the women’s honors went to sophomore Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden).

Clarke won the long jump with a personal-best leap of 7.68 meters (25 feet, 2½ inches) at the University of Georgia’s Spec Towns Invitational on Friday.  That effort, which was slightly wind-aided, was the fourth-best mark in the NCAA East Region this season.

Persson, meanwhile, became just the fifth woman in program history to long jump six meters at the Spec Towns Invitational.  She took third in the competition and moved into 25th on the NCAA East Preliminary Round qualifying list with a leap of 6.00 m (19’8¼).  Persson also ran the 100 meter hurdles, posting a time of 14.72 seconds to place 10th.

This is Persson’s second MAAC weekly award this year.  She was honored during the indoor season on Jan. 17.  Clarke was honored for the first time this season and the second time in his career.

Manhattan will take part in the annual Metropolitan Outdoor Championships this weekend.  Competition gets underway at 1 p.m. on Friday from Rutgers University’s Bauer Track & Field Complex.
